The
long, troubled reign of Internet Explorer may be coming to an end:
Microsoft has officially announced a new, more modern browser code-named
"Spartan" that will compete for your clicks on Windows 10. Announced at
Microsoft's big Windows event Wednesday, Spartan wasn't described as as
replacement, exactly. But Internet Explorer has struggled for so long
to reclaim browser market share taken by Chrome and Firefox and a clean
break may be what's needed to dispatch both the youthful competition and
its long-in-the-tooth predecessor.
Spartan has a nice, clean
look and some very useful tools built in: a reading mode that cleans up
layouts for easy consumption (or saving), an annotation mode for
sketching notes on Web pages, and integration with Microsoft's digital
assistant Cortana, who can provide additional information on anything
you're looking at.
As Windows 10 will be a free upgrade
