Amaechi’s Cousin Was Cut To Death With Machete

A cousin of governor Chibuike Amaechi, Sabinus Ordu, has been murdered in his home town, Ubima, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State, according to the Rivers Police Command.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Ibim Semenitari, who confirmed the incident to Premium Times in Port Harcourt on Friday, said Mr. Ordu was Amaechi’s uncle. However, he is a senior cousin because they share same grandfather.

According to Mrs. Semenitari, the mutilated body of Mr. Ordu, the vice principal of the Community Secondary School, ALUU, also in the local government, was found on Monday night.

On September 8, the deceased had gone to inspect his trap in the bush during which his assailant cut him with machete to death. It could not be ascertained immediately if the killing was politically motivated.

“Late Mr. Sabinus Ordu, who is an uncle (senior cousin) to Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, returned home in the afternoon from CSS, ALUU, where he is the vice principal and told the boy staying with him that he was going into the bush to check his traps.”

“He then mounted his motorcycle and left for the bush but did not return until it was night. At about 8.00p.m, the boy raised an alarm which attracted the villagers. A search party was sent to look for him,” Mrs. Semenitari said.

Mrs. Semenitari added that on the way into the bush the search party saw the victim’s motorcycle by the bush path, and went into the bush where they found his lifeless body, mutilated with several machete cuts.

The commissioner said the matter has been reported to the Elele Police Division and that Mr. Ordu remains have been deposited in a private mortuary.“The matter has been reported to the Police at Elele while the body has been deposited at the morgue.”

“It is worrisome because Ordu was a peace loving man, a school principal and the entire Amaechi’s family has been thrown into deep mourning,’’ she said.

PDP Denies Kalu’s Membership

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Southeast zone has denied the membership of former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu.

The denial was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Enugu State, by the party’s South East zone National Vice Chairman, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd), a copy obtained by The Nation.

Akobundu, who revealed that Kalu has not been readmitted into the PDP, insisted that the rumours making the round that the ex-governor has returned to the party were false, and described it as the figment of the peddlers’ imagination.

The national vice chairman further explained that the information made available to him from both Bende local government area and Abia State chapters of the party showed that Kalu is not a member of the PDP.

“He is neither registered in his Igbere ward nor recognized as having done so in Bende local government area, let alone being accepted at the state level of the party as a returnee”Akobundu said.  “For the avoidance of doubt, Orji Uzor Kalu is not member of PDP.”

He stated that despite the fact that the ex-governor visited some friends at the national secretariat of party in Abuja, where he took photograph with some naïve national officers and former political office holders as published in two national dailies does not make him a member of the PDP.

Akobundu therefore noted that the party has constitution, guidelines and laid down procedures that spell out how the party conducts its affairs including how returnees should be readmitted.

“Kalu, we should recall, was a governor at a time when our dear National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Ma’azu, was holding sway in Bauchi State. That Kalu had gone to our national headquarters to felicitate with his erstwhile colleague probably in company of others does not automatically qualify him as a member of the PDP” he said.

It would be recalled that on September 9, 2014, Orji Uzor Kalu, while speaking on the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram, which he said is politically instigated by some enemies of democracy in Nigeria, indicated interest to run for Senate in 2015, despite strong opposition from Governor Theodore Orji and other party chieftains with vested interests in Abia State.

Give Me Back My 30 Million Naira – Emenike Asks Governor Chime

Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike has asked Enugu state government to give him back his 30 million Naira (about $ 180,000) he invested in the state to build a sports academy after army men, stopped workers from working on it.

eminike Give Me Back My 30 Million Naira – Emenike Asks Governor Chime

An angry Emenike told AfricanFootball that he acquired the land after the World cup had concluded through the help of a special assistant to the Enugu State Governor Frank Ndubuisi Ugwunweze (a.k.a Ezeumuaga), who forwarded all documents concerning to the land in Emenike’s name.

Emenike revealed that he bought the lands as he visits there regularly during his free time, so he found out about a free plots of land in the state and contacted Governor Sullivan Chime’s aide who further assisted in making the purchase.

Emenike in his own words said: “I worked hard to make my money, I know what I pass through on the pitch before I earn my living and it will be unfair if what am hearing about my land in Enugu State was true.

“I visit Enugu whenever I come to Nigeria, my friends stay there as well as some of my family
members. And I am the kind of person who allows for advise. Even before now, I had a dream to own an academy not only in Nigeria but I believe in the saying that “charity begins at home”.

“About three, four months ago, I acquired 13 plots of land in Enugu State through the special assistant to Governor Sullivan Chime. And during the time of conversation of the land papers he never told me there was any problem on the land. He gave me all the necessary documents in my name after payment.

He went on to reveal that when he asked work to begin in the state, the Chime led government ordered soldiers to stop the labourers.

He said: “I then directed for work to commence immediately, but the state government has directed soldiers to stop anybody from working there.”I don’t want to believe that this is fraud. I am ready to fight it all.

“I am not a politician and I see no reason why my money will be held by the government house.”

“I have called some top government officials in Enugu, but all of them are not trying to be sincere.

They could not help because the order came from the Governor.

“Nobody is trying to be sincere and as a matter of fact, I want my money back. I am very depressed that there is no confidence in investing in my country. I just don’t understand the pranks.

“Right from time, I don’t like going through government for anything. I prefer to do it with my money and I see no reason why my property will be held back by government.”

Emenike also demanded that the Governor gives him back his money, if the project won’t be allowed to continue, as he won’t like to see his hard earned cash dissapear into thin air.

“People go to government to get free land, but I will not do that because there is no sincerity in most of the things we do. And I will not be here and somebody takes my money, it will never happen,” he disclosed.

“I just want to believe that His Excellency Governor Chime was not aware of the purchase of the land, in that case, I will like to have my money back.”

Emenike plays for Turkish club Fenerbahce, and he is Nigeria’s main and mostly lone striker.
