Beautiful 28yr old nurse hangs herself after suffering chronic skin disease

A health visitor with a first class honours degree in nursing was found hanged after she became tormented by her severe skin condition.

Hollie McEwen, a dedicated professional, first suffered psoriasis as a 12-month-old but it eased with treatment. However, it later reappeared due to stress and the 28-year-old became so depressed she took her own life at home.

Her father Andrew told an inquest: 'Her condition played a large part in what she decided to do.

'She was a beautiful, vibrant young woman who felt she couldn't deal with the condition. She felt this was the only way out.'

The Doncaster hearing was told she had suffered from bulimia as a teenager. Her family believed the eating disorder stemmed from her ongoing issues with her skin condition.

Her mother Wendy said: 'Her skin condition played a large part in her problems as a teenager and when older I feel this was at the root of all the problems.'

Hollie's body was found just two days after she had sought medical help for her depression.

She had spent a long time writing several letters to loved ones which were found in a bin.

Her father, who saw her the evening before the tragedy said: 'She was a happy, young woman who enjoyed her work and social life but she kept everything very close to herself. We had a good laugh on that last night and there was no indication she was unhappy.'

Mrs McEwen said her daughter, who lived in Scawsby, Doncaster, had treatment for psoriasis over the last few years involving hospital stays and steroids after suffering anxiety attacks.

Hollie had enjoyed a family holiday in Turkey but was 'down' after being given an anti-depression drug by her GP which failed to lighten her mood.

'She was an intelligent, determined and organised young woman,' she said. 'I told her to keep going with the tablets and give it time.'

When told about her daughter's death she said: 'I was in absolute shock. Her death has left a large hole in our family. I still can't understand why this has happened.'

Hollie's brother Andrew told the inquest: 'She was a happy young woman who enjoyed her work and social life. She kept everything very close to herself.'1411553777424_wps_8_Picture_shows_pretty_heal

He said there was no indication that she was unhappy the evening before she died. He added: 'As a teenager she was always conscious of her skin condition and it worried her greatly.'

Hollie's neighbour Elaine Lunn found a note from her on the morning of Friday, May 23 asking her to call the emergency services so Hollie's family would not find her body.

She said: 'I believe she had planned it. There was nothing to suggest prior that she was going to do anything like this. I feel totally distraught.'

She added: 'She was a very attractive young woman. She was energetic, thoughtful and caring and studied to further her career. She was very bright and intelligent.'

Nurse and friend Angelina Deighton, who trained with Hollie at Sheffield Hallam University, said she knew her psoriasis had worried Hollie and she said she was having treatment and counselling.

'She was always the life and soul of our friendship group,' she said. 'She was always bubbly. She had a boyfriend for a few months in 2013 but it fizzled out and she wasn't concerned about it.

'Lately she described being tired, down and just not coping. She had been to her GP for anti-depressants but she didn't think counselling would help her and she tried to help herself.

'I tried time and time again to get her to seek help. She had many friends who thought she would never do anything like this.'

Behavioural psychotherapist Jessica Dunn, who had a session with Hollie just two days before she died, said Hollie had started to feel anxious and overwhelmed at having to plan a friend's hen party.

'She was well presented with immaculate hair and make-up,' said Miss Dunn. She had 'dark thoughts' but had no intention of carrying them out. 'She told me "I wouldn't put my family through that".'

Hollie had been avoiding her friends and not socialising because her mood was so low. After breaking down in tears in the witness stand Miss Dunn said: 'I had no concern for her safety.'

Schoolboy, 15, may have accidentally hanged himself with school bag while swinging in trees

[caption id="attachment_2938" align="aligncenter" width="306"]1411143576746_wps_2_Family_collect_of_James_J1 James Jones may have accidentally hanged himself with his school bag while swinging from branches in woodland near his home in Salford, Greater Manchester[/caption]

1411150323702_wps_12_Clifton_Country_Park_Salf3James Jones may have got tangled in the cord of his bag, inquest hears Schoolboy, who had skipped class that day, enjoyed swinging in trees  He was found by a dog walker and pronounced dead at the scene on April 28 Model pupil had written a note saying he was ‘fed up’ and ‘don’t be sad’ Coroner says ‘something horrible went wrong’ in the tragic accident A boy of 15 may have accidentally hanged himself with his school bag while climbing trees. James Jones is feared to have become tangled in the cord of the bag as he clambered through branches in woodland near his home.
The teenager was playing truant from school and a note suggesting he was feeling depressed was found in his pocket, an inquest heard. But the coroner said his family were convinced James did not intend to take his life. He recorded a verdict of misadventure and blamed the tragedy on ‘youthful exuberance’. James, of Clifton, Salford, was said to be an ‘exemplary student’ at Harper Green High School in Farnworth, Bolton, excelling in art and also pursuing hobbies including chess, sailing and scuba-diving. He could read and write Japanese. His family said he had a ‘heart of gold’ and was a hard-working, polite, conscientious boy. But he was also a fearless tree climber and loved nothing better than to play, high up in the branches, his sister Ashleigh, 21, said. Tragedy struck on April 28, on James’s first day back at school after the Easter holiday. He left to go to school as normal only to slip away to Clifton Marina and Country Park. His mother, Wendy, 43, a care co-ordinator, had no idea James had skipped classes until he was not home by 6pm. Thinking James would be at his friend’s house, she and her husband Barry, 43, were preparing to go there to check when a policeman knocked on the door to say their son’s body had been found by a dog walker. Schoolbooks were strewn around the surrounding area and a note was found in James’s pocket which said he was ‘fed up’ and wanted to leave all of his possessions to his younger brother. But Mrs Jones told the hearing in Bolton: ‘I don’t think he tried to take his life. ‘James had also written “don’t be sad”, but he scribbled that out. ‘I think he was trying to swing up in the tree and got caught. He would never see any danger. ‘He used to jump into the river and say, “It’s not very deep”.’

Man commits suicide in Ekiti state after two failed attempts

unnamedAfter two failed attempts to kill himself in the last three years, a man said to be in his 30s named Mundiu (pictured above) finally succeeded in killing himself yesterday September 19th.

According to Sun News, Mundiu killed himself in the hall way of his compound in Ayede-Ekiti community in Oye local government of Ekiti state around in the early hours of yesterday morning.

According to one of his neighbors, Muntiu had always complained of being poor and unsuccessful and was said to be very frustrated. A day before he killed himself, he mentioned to neighbours that they will be witnessing drama on Friday but no one knew he was talking about him killing himself...

"He used to complain about the fact that he was very poor and living a wretched life, that he wasn’t making money to take care of himself. Two months ago, he had an okada (motorcycle) accident that almost claimed his life. He was moved out of the community for treatment. Two weeks ago, we learnt that he was dead but just three days ago, we sighted him in the community. Yesterday (Thursday), people heard him saying that by today (Friday) the people of Ayede community would witness an amazing drama. No one really read any meaning to what he was saying. We didn’t know that he was referring to this suicidal action”, a resident of the area said Another neighbour of the deceased said the first time he tried killing himself, it was his father who was alive then that saved him Mundiu. He also tried killing himself the second time by jumping into the river in Lokoja “It was past 12 midnight this morning, a deaf neighbour of the deceased, who we call Taiwo, raised the alarm that he saw something strange and alerted others to come and see it. We were asking him what it was that happened but because he could not hear us, he didn’t answer us. All we did was to just follow him to where he was directing our attention to. Eventually, he took us to where the deceased had hanged himself. He was already dead by that time. So, we just left him as you have seen him. We immediately called the police but as you can see, they haven’t come. Mundiu had attempted suicide two times before now. The first time, he had tried to hang himself but thankfully, his father caught him and stopped it. Since then, his father had kept the rope as an object of remembrance. Now his father is dead and could not witness this abominable act, he has eventually committed. His second attempt at killing himself was a time we were told he just jumped into a river. That happened in Lokoja, Kogi State. God had brought people on time to rescue him. This was his third time and no one was there to stop him, “ the neighbour said.

26-Year-Old Kills Self On Skype

A 26-year-old Russian man, Sergey Kirilov, has reportedly hanged himself live on Skype, while spectators cheered him on.

According to Dailymail report, Kirilov had announced his intentions to kill himself on social media, and invited people to watch him while he carried out the act live on Skype.

It was gathered that instead of attempting to stop Kirilov from taking his own life, many people watching Kirilov online encouraged him to kill himself.

Police authorities investigating the case stated that only one person tried to stop the deseased.

“If a man says he’s going to do something, he needs to do it,” one of the spectators allegedly said, while another said: “Come on, are you ready yet? Go on – do it.”

Speaking on the incident, a police spokesperson said: “It is beyond belief that people could watch this as a form of entertainment. We will be investigating everyone who watched this incident, especially those who urged him to carry it out who may be guilty of negligent homicide.”

Meanwhile, Moscow police say they are now trying to trace all the people who watched Kirilov’s suicide through their internet service providers.

Why do you think the late Kirilov would have killed himself in this manner?

According to Punch, the woman was a worker in a sachet water factory before she killed herself. A resident of the area said people in the area started to distance themselves from her after the outbreak of Ebola in Lagos which was brought into the country by a Liberian. They also started avoiding her because of her ill health, a situation believed to have frustrated her enough to commit suicide.

“We see her in this neighbourhood every day. I used to see her every day in the dress she died in.She always looked sick but people stopped selling to her after the Ebola outbreak. It could be because she was Liberian and looked sickly. This might have frustrated her.”
