The Daily Mirror published a story with the headline “Black mum gives birth to WHITE baby in 1,000,000-1 odds that baffled midwives“

Catherine who is of Nigerian parentage and her husband Richard who is white, expected their baby son to look “mixed” but when he was born, he was so white that she was convinced the midwives had brought her the wrong baby. Doctors have said the baby is not an albino.

Financial analyst Catherine said: “Some children get darker after a few weeks when the skin colour they will have for life starts to become obvious. But you can see from the colour at the tips of their ears what that will be. We saw straight away that Jonah was fully white.”

“We have been told that I must have been carrying a recessive gene,” said Catherine.

“My parents were from Nigeria and, for as far back as anyone can remember, my family have all been black.

“But at some point there must have been a white gene in my family that has remained dormant for years and years – until now.

“The doctors said they had researched the chances of this happening and discovered that it was very, very rare.

M-Net and Endemol SA advise that due to a devastating fire at the Big Brother house on 2 September 2014, Big Brother Hotshots will not launch this Sunday (7 September) as schedule. The cause of the fire at this stage is unknown and investigations will commence as soon as it is safe to do so.

At this stage M-Net and Endemol are urgently looking for an alternative Big Brother house in which to film the production, however as this production has highly technical infrastructure, camera and edit requirements an alternative is not immediately available. Every effort will be made to find a solution as quickly as possible to ensure that Africa’s biggest reality show will continue.

The Big Brother Africa house is based at the Sesani Studios in Johannesburg. Thankfully noone was injured.

Former President Obasanjo’s Niece Kikelomo Anubi Pregnant at Age 64

A niece of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mrs Kikelomo Anubi (pictured above) who is 64 years old, is currently expecting her first child after being married for 28 years.

Mrs Anubi, whose Ghanaian husband just returned home after leaving her for 6 years, spoke to City People magazine about being an expectant mother at such an old age

“I am pregnant and permit me to tell you that by next year when I have my baby I will be 65. I have been married for 28 years. It may amaze you that I got pregnant in a natural way. I didn’t do IVF. I have done IVF before at a popular hospital on the island and it failed. In fact, an uncle of mine who is a top shot paid for it. I almost lost my life but God intervened”. she said.

Asked how she is related to the former President, Mrs Anubi said;

Flood Ravages 62 Communities In Taraba

Sixty two communities were on Monday reported to have been ravaged by flood after a heavy downpour in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State.

 According to Leadership, one of the affected residents, Isaac Hikon, revealed that the flood also destroyed over 7000 houses, seven bridges and over ten thousand farm lands.

He further explained that the torrential rainfall started at about 5am on Friday last week, and lasted for more than 12 hours, causing flooding in the major highway, especially the roads leading to the local government headquarter.

When the state acting executive Secretary of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Paul Tino, was contacted, he disclosed that the acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar, has ordered the immediate distribution of relief materials to affected people currently taking refuge in a school located in the area.

Umar promised them that the current administration would do everything humanly possible to make sure they get the required assistance.

BAMA ATTACK: Boko Haram Kills Senator's Nephews

A Nigerian Senator, Khalifa Zanna, said that Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram, killed  two of his nephew in their take over of the second largest town, Bama in Borno state.

Senator Zanna whose hometown happens to be Bama, told SaharaReporters today that the Islamist terrorist group, have chased out the Nigerian troops and taken full control of the town and local government area.

The senator who said the Boko Haram terrorist have been driving around in armored tanks and military pickup in Bama said the sect killed two of his nephews named Babagana Mala Zanna, 28, and Yusuf Mala Zanna, 20, after finding them in his brother’s house in Bama early this morning.

Senator Zanna also said there were significant civilian deaths from the fierce firefight that lasted five hours between Nigerian troops and Boko Haram militants.

A Nigerian Air Force jet arrived the scene and bombed Bama twice. The first bomb was dropped on the barracks at Bama, a military source told SaharaReporters.

He said the jet dropped the bomb to prevent the sect from laying hands on the armory in Bama. The second bomb also destroyed an army tank seized by Boko Haram militants, said the soldier.

On Septemeber 1, the dreaded Boko Haram sect were said to have stormed Bama, Borno state.

It was reported, yesterday, that the Nigerian Army repelled Boko Haram attack in Bama andkilled over 50 members of the sect in fierce battle.

Following the killings of members of the Boko Haram sect, it was reported the terrorists retaliated as they reportedly took over Bama, which forced soldiers and residents to flee to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Meanwhile there are reports that Nigerian military began airstrikes on Bama, following fierce fighting with Boko Haram insurgents, security officials informed.

Nigerian Army Begins Airstrikes In Borno

The Nigerian military on Monday, 1 September, 2014, began airstrikes on Bama, Borno State’s second most important city, following fierce fighting with Boko Haram insurgents, security officials informed.

According to Premium Times, residents in Bama informed that the town came under attack from the insurgents on Monday morning forcing the military authorities to call in the air force for a sustained air attack on the town.

It was gathered that attention was focused around the military barracks suspected to be the target of the insurgents.

Another source informed that military commanders had withdrawn ground troops that had earlier engaged the terrorists to allow the use of sweeping air attacks.

The source added that the military had warned residents to leave the town ahead of the clash on Monday.

“But the insurgents seemed to have resorted to using a few of their members to create a detour (distraction) and make the aircrafts dissipate their bombs so that they would come attacking with a much larger force,” said the source.

It was gathered that Monday’s aerial bombardment of suspected insurgents commenced the gradual roll-out of full force against the sect by the Nigerian military.

“We were all along restrained because of the Chibok girls,” a top military source said. “But the time has now come to do something drastic. We cannot afford to allow a rag tag group to take over our country.”

A local vigilante, on Monday, said that about 70 Boko Haram terrorists were killed by soldiers as the insurgents attempted to storm the town and seize the barracks.

A top security official in Maiduguri confirmed the attack but did not give casualty figure or state which side suffered more damage.

APGA Aspirant Trades Words With Governor Orji

Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State and a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the state, Chief Chikwe Udensi have engaged in a war of words over the 2015 general elections.

According to a report published by Punch online on 2 September, 2014, Udensi had in a recent media chat accused Orji of non-performance, adding that infrastructures have totally collapsed in Abia under the governor’s watch.

 

The APGA governorship aspirant also alleged that there was nothing to justify the huge resources accruing to the state from the federation accounts, promising that if given the opportunity he would salvage the state from “misrule and transform its collapsing economy.”

“There are no roads in Aba, and education has failed; the masses are suffering because of bad leadership,” he said.

While reacting to Udensi’s allegations, the Chief Press Secretary of Governor Orji, Charles Ajunwa, described Udensi’s comments as “malicious and the ranting of a political neophyte seeking relevance.”

According to the release signed byAjunwa, it stated that Governor Orji was so committed to delivering “on his covenant with Abians and transformation agenda that he would not be distracted by the antics of detractors like Udensi and his cohorts.”

The release reads in part: “The attention of Abia State Government has been drawn to the ranting of a political lilliput who thinks the only way to achieve popularity is to attack the government in power.

“Political jobbers like Udensi should be reminded that governorship of Abia State is not for opportunists but for men with vision and character.”

Orji also described Udensi as “clueless” for his critical stance on the Governor’s airport project which he said amounted to a misplaced priority.

“It is unthinkable that a man who wants to govern a state does not understand the pivotal role of an airport to the socio-economic development of a state. It is only in Nigeria that failures without antecedents of any proven record of managerial acumen, intellectual prowess or efficiency in any known trade jostle for political power just because of the little cash in their pockets.”

Orji concluded by saying APGA was non-existent in Abia and lacked the clout to uproot PDP, which he claimed had a firm grip in the entire South Eastern zone.

Bash Ali was said to have camped at the headquarters of Nigeria Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) yesterday with his fellow supporters.

 

He was invited in to a meeting with the bank Managing Director Mr. Robert Orya, but Ali refused to attend and decided to to lay flat at the entrance of the bank, thus disrupting business and creating an ugly scene.

 

News247 says:  Management of the bank denied his supporters entrance but he insisted that his supporters must attend the meeting. This generated a fracas between him and the security before he was overpowered by the securitymen, who pushed him down and a vehicle climbed his legs.

Orya told journalists:  “Please ask him what he is doing there. I have explained to this man times without number that NEXIM Bank does not have the mandate to sponsor sporting activities”.

Boko Haram Takes Over Yobe Town, Preaches To The People

Residents of Gulani town in Yobe State were yesterday, September 2, were forced into the bush as Boko Haram insurgents reportedly took over the town.

The sect were said to have carried on preaching to those who didn’t flee and were remaining in the town.

According to report, the sect didn’t kill anybody neither did they hurt anyone.

It was gathered by Daily Trust from residents that youths and households deserted the town after they sighted the militants heading to the town on Sunday evening in Hilux vans and motorcycles.

The militants upon realizing the people were panicking went to the Ward head’s house and registered their arrival, telling him that their coming was just to preach and not to harm anyone.

They explained that the insurgents passed the night in the town and early the next day, they called for the morning prayers (Subh) at the central mosque where they preached to the remaining residents for over an hour and then headed back to the government lodge were they were lodging.

The source added that there were no security operatives to challenge them and they were still occupying the government lodge at the time of filing this report.

Give Me Back My 30 Million Naira - Emenike Asks Governor Chime

Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike has asked Enugu state government to give him back his 30 million Naira (about $ 180,000) he invested in the state to build a sports academy after army men, stopped workers from working on it.

An angry Emenike told AfricanFootball that he acquired the land after the World cup had concluded through the help of a special assistant to the Enugu State Governor Frank Ndubuisi Ugwunweze (a.k.a Ezeumuaga), who forwarded all documents concerning to the land in Emenike’s name.

Emenike revealed that he bought the lands as he visits there regularly during his free time, so he found out about a free plots of land in the state and contacted  Governor Sullivan Chime’s aide who further assisted in making the purchase.

Emenike in his own words said:  “I worked hard to make my money, I know what I pass through on the pitch before I earn my living and it will be unfair if what am hearing about my land in Enugu State was true.

“I visit Enugu whenever I come to Nigeria, my friends stay there as well as some of my family
members. And I am the kind of person who allows for advise. Even before now, I had a dream to own an academy not only in Nigeria but I believe in the saying that “charity begins at home”.

“About three, four months ago, I acquired 13 plots of land in Enugu State through the special assistant to Governor Sullivan Chime. And during the time of conversation of the land papers he never told me there was any problem on the land. He gave me all the necessary documents in my name after payment.

He went on to reveal that when he asked work to begin in the state, the Chime led government ordered soldiers to stop the labourers.

He said:  “I then directed for work to commence immediately, but the state government has directed soldiers to stop anybody from working there.”I don’t want to believe that this is fraud. I am ready to fight it all.

“I am not a politician and I see no reason why my money will be held by the government house.”

“I have called some top government officials in Enugu, but all of them are not trying to be sincere.
They could not help because the order came from the Governor.

“Nobody is trying to be sincere and as a matter of fact, I want my money back. I am very depressed that there is no confidence in investing in my country. I just don’t understand the pranks.

“Right from time, I don’t like going through government for anything. I prefer to do it with my money and I see no reason why my property will be held back by government.”

Emenike also demanded that the Governor gives him back his money, if the project won’t be allowed to continue, as he won’t like to see his hard earned cash dissapear into thin air.

“People go to government to get free land, but I will not do that because there is no sincerity in most of the things we do. And I will not be here and somebody takes my money, it will never happen,” he disclosed.

“I just want to believe that His Excellency Governor Chime was not aware of the purchase of the land, in that case, I will like to have my money back.”

 

Emenike plays for Turkish club Fenerbahce, and he is Nigeria’s main and mostly lone striker.

The bulky Imo state born athlete has started this season off well, having scored a fantastic goal for Fenerbahce, he is scheduled to represent Nigeria in the September 6th World Cup qualifiers.

I killed My Father Over A Stick Of Cigarette – Suspect Confesses

The Edo State Police Command, yesterday, paraded 63 suspected armed robbers, child defilers and murderers, including a 25-year-old boy who murdered his father after a quarrel over a stick of cigarette he stole from his father.

Confessing his sins, Best Momodu, an indigene of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, who murdered his father, said he committed the dastard act with anger after he stole a stick of cigarette from his father.

He said: “I stole his cigarette and he found out. So he started shouting at me and quarrelling. So, mistakenly I took a knife and stabbed him. I have not seen the dead body but I heard he died. But the community people arrested me after I killed him.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Folunso Adebanjo, who paraded the suspects, admonished residents of the state to be vigilant particularly at the airports, crowded places, uncompleted buildings and to monitor their environments.

Declaring that the police in the state had put up strategies to curb crime this ember months, the CP raised alarm over increasing number of cases of child defilers in the state and urged parents to be watchful, saying the activities of child defilers are not only worrisome but wicked.

According to him, “this is the beginning of the ember months, these are times criminals will want to reap where they did not sow. I want to thank the people of the state for their corporation and I urge for continued partnership between the police and the public.

“If you observe anything around, report to the police, monitor all uncompleted buildings because that is where criminals hide.”

TRAGIC: Ebola Scare In Lagos As Passenger Dies Inside Luxurious Bus

The unidentified man had boarded a bus bound for the North when he suddenly slumped and died…

The Oyingbo park in the Jibowu area of Lagos was the scene of pandemonium yesterday, August 31, 2014 as a passenger on board a luxurious bus reportedly slumped and died.

A witness told Pulse.ng that the incident occurred at about 7pm as other passengers were boarding the bus which was heading to Kaduna and Kano.

People in the area were immediately struck with fear and they began to assume the worst due to the Ebola disease which has inflicted some in the country.

According to the witness, some men eventually summoned courage and brought the corpse out of the bus while wearing nylon bags on their hands.

Police officers attached to the area were also called in and statements were given about the unfortunate incident.

The victim has not been identified as at press time and no official confirmation has been issued regarding the event.
