‘Make Abducted Girls Sacrificial Lambs’ - Chibok Chairman

Its been over 130 days since the over 200 Chibok school girls were kidnapped by the dreaded Boko Haram sect on April 14 in Borno, the traumatized parents have called on the Federal Government to go to Sambisa forest and bring back the corpse of their children dead or alive.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, the chairman of Chibok Local government, Tsambido Hosea, in an interview with Premium Times on Friday, August 29 during a protest to mark the 130th day in Abuja said the parents have not been able to move on with their lives since the abduction of the girls.

He said the parents have given up hope and are seeking a logical end to their trauma either by burial or reunion.

Chibok Chairman, Tsambido Hosea said: “The parents say they don’t care about their life but let them go in. If they can take care of this Boko Haram, so that they will not spread to other places. So that they cannot continue with their menace.

“Let the girls be sacrificial lambs. That’s what they told me yesterday.

“I phoned them, that I know that I am going to face some interviews today. What is your opinion? So this their opinion.

“Actually, if the federal government has that capacity, let them go into the Sambisa. If there are some that God said will be rescued, it can be rescued by the force.

“And if some has gone, its okay, than all this troubles, than all this trauma the parents are going through now.

“They cannot do anything. But had it been they buried them, they would have forged ahead with their lives.

“They are saying let the government go into the forest. Even the corpse, let them bring the corpse of the children so that they will bury them properly.

“What they are saying is that these girls in the bush, it is better for the government, to go in with the force, with the army might to bring them even the corpse for them, so that they can bury them properly.”

“If the Federal government has that capacity, let them go into the Sambisa. If there are some that God said would be rescued, they can be rescued by the force and if some have gone, it’s better (to know) than this entire trauma the parents are going through,” he said.

Meanwhile, a renowned human rights activist and negotiator, Comrade Shehu Sani has disclosed that some powerful Nigerians are preventing the efforts of the Federal Government and other concerned citizens in ensuring the release of the missing Chibok girls.

On August 31, it was reported that Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, have announced that 15 of the Chibok girls who escaped from Boko Haram captivity have been been awarded scholarships to study in the American University of Nigeria Academy in Yola.

Ebola: FIFA Threatens To Disqualify Super Eagles

FIFA threatens to disqualify the Nigerian Super Eagles if any of the players wears unacceptable gear in the first leg qualifier of the 2015 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Before even starting the fight for the championship in the upcoming tournament, the Eagles’ are already cautioned against being disqualified in the today’s match Nigeria-Congo, Nigerian Tribune reports.

Ahead of the match to be held September 6 in Calabar English Premiership sides, Chelsea and Manchester City, provided both Mikel and Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast) with special kits expected to protect them from the virus during AFCON qualifiers.

However the international football body reportedly warned both Nigeria and Ivorian federations they should comply with the dressing code of the tournament as they wrote:

“FIFA only permits players to wear a cap that covers their head to the hairline, but does not extend below the ears to cover the neck. We don’t condone an infringement of the Laws of the Game. The match commissioner and match referee for the Afcon qualifiers will apply correctly the Laws of the game.”

It would be recalled that days ago the team’s John Mikel Obi arrived at the training camp in hand gloves and made jokes about Ebola virus currently ravaging West Africa. He told the Eagles’ head coach Stepeh Keshi

“Coach I have up to four hand gloves and if you don’t mind, I can hand one pair to you.”

As for the upcoming game, it has been recently made known that the victorious Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama will miss the first AFCON game for personal reasons, however no further details were provided on the issue.

Despite this hardship, CSKA Moscow Striker Ahmed Musa expressed his confidence in the Super Eagles’ victory this Saturday saying:

“We already know ourselves and we know that we will win on Saturday.”

According to punch, the message was posted on one of the numerous Facebook accounts ascribed to actor, Desmond Elliot.

 

In the message, Nigerians were asked to say amen to the prayer that the Nollywood diva, who has put smiles on a lot of faces in the country would have a reason to smile before the year runs out.

 

The message read: “We all know actress, Ini Edo, has been married for a while now without any issue. Many of us have laughed at her, insulted her, judged her without knowing the pains she goes through indoors. She has entertained us, made us laugh and has inspired many of us. Today, let us come together and pray for her. Ini Edo, this year, 2014 will not pass you by, you will not only get pregnant, you will also give birth safe and sound. Meanwhile Ini Edo born in Akwa-Ibom, an English graduate from the University of Calabar who started her acting career in 2000 and has since featured in over 100 movies.

She got married to American-based Nigerian businessman Philip Ehiagwina in 2008.

She also graduated from the University of Uyo where she got a Diploma in Theatre Arts.

Ebola Solution: WHO Recommends To Use Survivors' Blood

The World Health Organization (WHO) revealed how the use of Ebola survivors’ blood could help the infected patients to recover.

While there is no approved drug for the deadly tropical virus which has already claimed around 2,000 lives in West Africa, hundreds of people still have managed to win the battle with Ebola.  Health experts say that such survivors develop antibodies in their blood and thus immunity from further infection, Premium Times reports.

As the countries expect the results of experimental vaccines trial, every day counts and records new deaths.  The UN health organization urged the affected countries not to wait until the drug becomes available but start using the blood of patients who recover from the Ebola in treating other patients.

Speaking yesterday on the issue of Ebola epidemic, which has definitely spun out of control, the WHO said there was no data on the effectiveness of such therapy, however studies on the 1995 outbreak in Congo showed that 7 out of 8 people survived after being given this therapy.

Marie Paule Kieny, WHO top officials, said, as reported by BBC:

“We agreed that whole blood therapies may be used to treat Ebola virus and all efforts must be invested to help infected countries to use them. There is a real opportunity that a blood-derived product can be used now and this can be very effective in terms of treating patients. There are also many people now who have survived and are doing well. They can provide blood to treat the other people who are sick.”

According to the latest update, at least 2,105 have died from Ebola. Nigeria is considered the country which manages to contain epidemic, however 8 deaths of the virus have been recorded since July. Five of Nigeria’s lethal cases are health workers.

 

Meanwhile scientists worldwide continue testing of the developed drug. The infamous unapproved ZMapp has been administered to 7 patients. The British William Pooley who received ZMapp, has successfully recovered and has been this week discharged from the UK hospital.

However the drug is still under testing and its supply is very limited; the production of new doses will reportedly require months.

Another drug is already being tested on healthy adults in the UK with the plans to extend the trials to the African countries.

Falana Says Cameroon Arrested Sheriff In 2012

Shortly after confirming links of Ali Modu Sheriff with Boko Haram, human rights lawyer Femi Falana reveals how former Borno State governor was arrested in 2012.

It would be recalled that in a statement published September 3 by Premium Times Falana, referring to the investigation carried out by the special panel, said Sheriff had close connection with insurgents and  urged the authorities to initiate legal proceedings against politicians involved in sponsoring Boko Haram, including Sheriff.

This came days after the Australian negotiator Stephen Davis, who had spent 4 month in Nigeria to negotiate with BH commanders for Chibok girls release, insisted Sheriff was one of politicians funding terrorism in the country.

While Sheriff categorically denied any involvement and characterized allegations as baseless, Lagos-based lawyer made another disclosure speaking at the 5th Gani Fawehinmi Memorial Lecture, Vanguard reports:

“In October 2012, Sheriff was arrested in Cameroon on crime committed by the Boko Haram he sponsored. The state government pleaded with the Cameroonian government to release him because he is a well known man here and he cannot be arrested.”

Sue me – Falana tells Sheriff

In a yesterday’s interview Stephen Davis dared ex-governor to sue him, as the latter had threatened to do so over the sponsorship allegations. However Falana, urged Sheriff to sue him instead.

“I am expecting Senator Ali Madu Sheriff to sue me. I heard that he wanted to sue an Australian (Dr. Steven Davies). He doesn’t need that. He should sue me. I am waiting for him to sue me. Not only did he fund that organization (Boko Haram), he also had a deal with them.”

The legal practitioner insisted on Sheriff’s responsibility:

“In 2003, he had a deal with the Boko Haram leaders to help him win the election and that if he wins his re-election, he will compensate the organization. When he won the election, he appointed one of them as Commissioner for Religious Affairs to implement Sharia in that state.”

Falana also blasted the Nigerian authorities over hiding facts from country citizens.

 

Meanwhile the Federal Government yesterday denied hiring Davis as negotiator in Chibok girls issue. It was made known in the official statement, according to which “for now nobody has been hired by the government to negotiate on its behalf with Boko Haram”.

The  Department of State Security (SSS) however revealed that they had already invited Sheriff for interrogation after news surfaced that he sponsored Boko Haram.

Fight For Bama: Military Deploy Nigeria's Warplanes

Nigerian military allegedly use country’s warplanes for carrying out air strikes in Bama previously seized by Boko Haram insurgents.

After the insurgents had recently taken over the strategic town of Borno state displacing locals and forcing soldiers to flee from the area, the military were said to continue counter-strike attacks on Boko Haram bases in Bama, this time deploying warplanes.

 

It was disclosed by a senior official, who pleaded anonymity while speaking with Reuters yesterday. According to him, air strikes have been carried out “on all the Boko Haram bases”, which he said reflected President Goodluck Jonathan’s order for a “fully-fledged war” against insurgents operating in the North-East.

 

Within a short period of time Boko Haram captured several strategic towns, including Gwoza, Bama and several others. Inspired by their success, the militants are believed to move further in an attempt to seize Maiduguri. It would be noted that after capturing Gwoza Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau claimed Islamic Caliphate in the area. Now the terrorists’ aim is apparently to expand the caliphate.

On situation in Bama, Vanguard also reports referring to Reuters interview with Musa Sumail, a human rights activist in Maiduguri who said:

“Even today, we can see so many people leaving … the buses are going out plenty now.”

Meanwhile the Nigerian Defence Headquarters insisted they would do everything possible to defend the territorial integrity of the country.

In a statement released September 5 by the the Nigerian military and signed by the Defence Spokesman Chris Olukolade it was stressed that “the DHQ wishes to reiterate the pledge and commitment it made while briefing the Joint Committee on Defence of the National Assembly to the effect that everything will be done to reverse the situation and defeat the rampaging terrorists.”

Redeemed Church Pastor Die At LUTH Over Suspicion Of Ebola

A pastor in one of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) parishes identified as Solomon Olayanju was abandoned and left to die at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) over suspicion he had Ebola Virus Disease, (EVD).

Pastor Olayanju developed high temperature overnight and was taken to a nearby private hospital last Friday where they tried to stabilise him before referring him to LUTH.

On getting to LUTH, he was immediately taken to the spillover ward of the accident and emergency A&E unit which serves as the EVD isolation unit for suspected cases.

According to colleague of the deceased, Pastor Kehinde Bello who spoke to National Mirror, the consultant handling the case, Dr. Akodu refused to attend to the deceased since Monday that he was admitted.

The nurses also refused to take out blood samples and no test was carried out.

He explained: “It was on Wednesday, after the tests carried out confirmed that the young man who died on Tuesday, at the same ward was free from Ebola, that the management realised their mistake.

“It was then that the nurses started attending to him, after we protested and threatened to take him away. But Pastor Olayanju died yesterday morning before any serious medical treatment could be given to him.”

Another colleague of the deceased, Pastor Jacob, described what happened as a simple case of negligence.

When they took the matter to the Chief Medical Director LUTH, Prof. Akin Osibogun, he merely apologised and asked them to make arrangement to carry the corpse.

Some hospitals are still turning down requests from patients to be treated of ailments unrelated to Ebola, because of the fear that their health workers may contract the disease.

It was gathered that more patients are dying in many hospitals due to their inability to access medical care based on the fear that they might have contracted Ebola.

A nurse with the Lagos State Government hospital in Alimosho Local Government Area told THISDAY that patients are usually assessed from the gate and asked to turn back, if they are discovered to have a fever.

Unbelievable:- Indian Girl Marries Dog To Get Rid Of Evil Spirit (See Photos)

Indian girl Mangli Munda married a stray dog to ward off an evil spirit.

The wedding ritual of the 18-year-0ld from Jharkhand and the dog was quickly organized by local elders, who believed Mangli could not marry a human, because it would cause harm to her family and community, Daily Mail reports.

The girl’s father obeyed the community guru, found the dog in the street and drove it to the ceremony.

When asked about the whole situation the bride said she was not happy to marry the dog but hoped it would help to change her fortunes for the better.

“I am marrying a dog because the village elders believe that my evil spell will be passed on to the dog. ‘After that is done, the man I will marry will have a long life.”

Her father supported the daughter’s position saying that it was the only way to “get rid of the bad luck”.

He also added that a lot of ceremonies of that kind had already been conducted in their community and in the neighbouring villages. According to the locals, such marriage will not affect Mangli’s life and she will be able to marry a man without divorcing a dog.

The girl also hopes to meet the man of her life in the future after having been cleared of evil spirits.

The custom provides that the newly-made wife should take care of the four-legged “husband” for the next few months.

It is worth mentioning that in Hinduism, the dominant religion in Ingia, the dog it is believed to guard the doors of Heaven and Hell. In a special 5-day Tihar festival held on an annual basis dogs the dogs are worshipped as the animals carrying religious significance.

Wicked Love: Jealous Boyfriend Bites Off Girlfriend’s Lips (Photos)

Couples fight a lot, sometimes one little argument goes out of hand, and may even lead to breakup for awhile or forever but for a boyfriend to bite off his girlfriend’s lips, disfiguring her face – That is just sad;

Rhys Culley, 23, has been in a relationship with pretty Chanttelle Ward for over two years, bit his girlfriend’s upper lip after the attack, during which he smeared her own blood around her face and forced his tongue in her mouth.

Culley, however denied wounding with intent but was found guilty after a trial, as pictures seen by jurors at the New Castle Crown Courts showed angry teeth mark and will be sentenced next month and has now been remanded in custody.

Jurors heard Culley, of South Shields, near Newcastle, bit down on the victim’s lip with the same force that would be needed to bite through a 1cm thick piece of rubber.

Miss Ward told jurors during the trial Culley had tried to kiss her and asked her if she still loved him before the bite.

“He put his whole mouth around my lips and pulled, I thought that my whole lip had come off.

“There was blood everywhere.”

Culley and his girlfriend got back to her house, after attending her mother’s birthday, when he brought up a conversation that his girlfriend had had with another man on Facebook earlier in the month.

Culley took Miss Ward’s phone off her in a bid to look through her Facebook messages, when he found that the messages were no longer there, he became angry and started to shout at his girlfriend accusing her of having something to hide.

She became scared and lifted her phone to call Culley’s mother to ask him to come and get him, he took the phone from her, locked the doors so that she couldn’t escape.

She suffered not only the injuries to her mouth, but bruising to her arms and body, a scratch to her left b****t, bruising of the face and ear.

Love can be sweet and can also be scary, but can you define Culley’s action as LOVE?

EFCC Arrest Nigerian Man for Duping 75 Year Old Dutch Woman of €200k

A 31 year old Nigerian man, Adio Opeyemi Micheal (pictured above) has been arrested by the EFCC for duping a 75 year old dutch woman of €200,000 in an internet romance scam. Find the EFCC press statement below…

“For swindling a 75 year old woman of 200,000 Euros in a romance scam, a 31-year-old confidence trickster, Adio Opeyemi Michael, an indigene of  Owu LGA of Ogun state, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC. The victim, a certain Jeanet De Jonge, is a Dutch national.”

Adio allegedly met the victim on the ‘Net log’ dating site and pretended to be a 41-year-old American citizen, working as a chef in a Nigerian restaurant and needs a wife. The profile attracted Jeanet and, in no time, began sending him money through Western Union and Money Gram.

“She was sending me money monthly, ranging from $800 to $900 from June 2012, through Western Union Money transfer and Money Gram to the extent that Western Union blocked her from sending money to me in Nigeria.  So she requested that I should go to London to enable her send me money there. I contacted a friend of mine in London called Osas Odiah, so that he can receive the money and send to me here in Nigeria. She first sent €2000 to my friend’s account in London, and later to my Keystone bank account, which was actually a Forex Trade account. We started using this account when we discovered that my friend was not remitting all the money sent by Jeanet to me,” the suspect revealed.

Investigations further revealed that the suspect collected the various sums under the pretext that he was going to use the money to perfect his travel plans and obtain the required documents that would enable him travel to Holland to join or visit Jeanet. But his inability or refusal to honour the invitation from Jeanet prompted the petition to EFCC.

The suspect will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.

Kendrick Lamar Accused of Brutally Beating a Woman and Leaving Her Bloody in Vegas Room

A former female security guard who worked at The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas released a video recently claiming that rapper Kendrick Lamar was investigated for allegedly brutally beating a woman and leaving her bloody in a room in the hotel.

The guard claimed the battered woman called them for help and when they got to the room, found her in a terrible state. But the guard never said she saw Kendrick lay hands on the woman. This happened in May. What she said below…

“On Memorial Day Weekend . . . so I get dispatched up to one of the rooms to help some girl get down to the casino. She ends up being all bloody and things, so I had to call my supervisor, then I had to call my other supervisor, then I had to call my boss. And I was like, “We have a situation,” because half of her face was like blown out.” Continue…

Come to find out that she was with a certain rapper, who had assaulted her . . . and his first name is [Kendrick]. [Audience aks if she means Kendrick Lamar]. Yeah. . . He beat up some chick, [and] there was like blood everywhere.
There were cops there, and we didn’t find out it was Kendrick until later. . . . She ended up pressing charges, I think.

Kendrick was in Vegas in May to perform at the Rehab Pool Party. But the incident never made news. Kendrick is yet to respond to the accusations.
