What Would You Do? RHOA Star Phaedra Parks reportedly “abandons” husband Apollo Nida as he begins 8-Year Jail Term

 

All you Real Housewives of Atlanta fans know the story by now…but we will summarise for those who do not.

The Marriage
Lawyer Phaedra Parks married Apollo Nida in 2009.

He was an Ex-Con
Prior to their wedding, Apollo had served a 6 year jail term in a state prison for auto loan fraud. If you watch the show, you would know that when questioned by friends on why she married an ex-con, Phaedra defended her husband by saying he was a changed man and he only committed white collar crimes.

Back to the Criminal Life
Fast forward to January 2014, despite his reality TV fame, wife and 2 children, Apollo fell into a life of crime once again. He was charged with bank fraud and identity theft. According to a written affidavit viewed by Radar Online, “Nida created fake companies, enabling him to access databases to find individuals to rip off. He opened fake bank accounts under those real names and funneled stolen U.S. Treasury checks and auto loan proceeds into those accounts. He also allegedly opened a fake auto dealership and applied for auto loans in the names of stolen identities.“

Off to Jail
Now he has been sentenced to 8 years in jail and began his stint in jail just a few hours ago.

She “abandoned” Him
Even since his sentencing, Apollo has been “bitter” about his wife not supporting him. According to reports, Phaedra and the children will not be visiting him in jail and the marriage is effectively over for now.

In a recent interview with Atlanta’s B100 radio station, when asked if his marriage would last through his time in prison, Apollo said, “I doubt it. I mean, my wife didn’t even f—king show up for my sentencing. I’m still salty about that.” Just yesterday, he reported to jail late because he reportedly visited their home and had a shouting match with his estranged wife.

On her own part, Phaedra had this to say to US Weekly via her rep, “Phaedra is now putting all of her energy into ensuring the well-being of her two children and making decisions that are in their best interests. This situation has put a tremendous strain on Phaedra and her family, and she is working hard to bring back a sense of normalcy to everyone’s lives.”

Tips--- Filling Your Child’s Bucket of Self Esteem

My cousin’s display message on her BlackBerry on Saturday morning read “parents need to fill a child’s bucket of self-esteem so high that the rest of the world can’t poke enough holes to drain it dry” . That message got me thinking. I called her and we had a lengthy conversation about people who have a strong sense of self and those who don’t. We also talked about kids we knew and how they fared in life because of how they were treated at home.

It’s been said that children learn what they live. If a child grows up with criticism they learn to condemn, if a child lives with pity they learn to feel sorry for them selves, if a child lives with jealousy they learn what envy is. I used to read these growing up because we had the entire “creed” hanging on the wall of our staircase. As it relates to self-esteem, if a child grows up with approval they learn to like themselves and if a child grows up in a home where he/she is constantly put down and told he will come to no good it will take the grace of God for him to believe otherwise . I am not talking of the spiritual significance of the spoken word here as that’s a whole new topic for another day.

Just recently my aunt was at a wedding table with her son and an in-law who was even younger than her son. She was asked to go and re-park her car. She didn’t have enough faith in her son’s ability to drive , instead she asked the in-law to help re-park. Another line from Dorothy Nolte’s write up says that if a child lives with encouragement they learn confidence. My aunt by that act and many others failed woefully in that area. The son who wasn’t allowed to re-park his mother’s car can drive and is almost 30 years. Her two kids have very little confidence and have low paying jobs. Can you see the connection?

I remember when Ebuka Obi-Uchendu was on Big Brother. It was one of the eviction shows and his elder sister came. I don’t know how big brother works now but then relatives of housemates who were up for eviction used to come for it and they were often times given a microphone to address the crowd. So the presenter asks her if she thinks Ebuka will win. His sister very calmly said, Ebuka is a winner whether or not he wins big brother. So you can imagine the amount of self esteem his “bucket” was filled with. Not to toot Ebuka’s horn or flatter him, but years after his sister’s declaration he is still a winner . You can deduce from what his sister said that theirs was a home where their mother had enough confidence in her son’s ability to re-park her car if the situation arose.

My organization hires graduates as sales reps and we pay them less than other staff. I have been on the interview panel and some people have walked into these interviews and even from their carriage I know they won’t settle for such an arrangement because from home they have a strong sense of self.

People can do so much more if they are told who they are and know it. The world will always put you down and life will throw situations at you that will make you second guess yourself. Women face abuse and take all sorts from men just because they weren’t told enough that they deserve better. It’s therefore important that the child’s self worth and value system is so indoctrinated in them that 30,40 ,50 years own nothing can tell them any different.

As they say charity and all else begins at home.

What Is This???......PDP Charges Aspirants N2.5m For Governorship Form In Ogun State

Each of the governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State is to pay a sum of N2.5m to pick a form of intention to contest in 2015 election, The PUNCH has learnt.

One of the aspirants, Mr. Kayode Amusan, disclosed this on Monday shortly after he obtained his form of intention at the party secretariat in Oke Mosan area of Abeokuta.

The state secretary of the party Mr. Semiu Sodipo, confirmed this in a telephone interview with our correspondent, adding that two aspirants had already paid for the forms, the money which he said was non-refundable.

He said, “Two of the aspirants have paid and obtained their forms of intention to contest for the governorship election.”

Amusan later told journalists that he decided to seek the governorship seat in the state because of the complaints he reportedly received daily from residents of the state.

He said, “My intention to contest for the governorship seat was borne out of the fact that there have been complaints from the people as regards the collapsing economy of the state.

“When you look at the people, you will see them being increasingly impoverished, there is increase in poverty, high increase in the debt profile of the state and regular capital flight.”

On education, Amusan said the sector was gradually collapsing with most public schools dilapidated condition.

Amusan said he was ready to slug it out in the primary with other contestants which include a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, who is also said to be interested in the governorship race.

Prophet Samuel who also spoke on the issue of Boko Haram in the country said:

Prophet Samuel who started his ministry 30 years ago is set to celebrate his 50th birthday as well as his 25th wedding anniversary to his wife, Christianah Owatunde.

Meanwhile Rev. Moses Iloh, a respected cleric, General Overseer of Soul Winning Chapel, Ebute-Metta and President, Eclectic Network, has warned President Goodluck Jonathan not to run for a second tenure in the forthcoming 2015 elections.

14 Year Old US Boy Charged with Desecrating a Statue of Jesus Christ

 

A 14-year-old boy in the United States has been charged with desecrating a statue of Jesus Christ.

The Pennsylvania-based boy is said to have stood in front of a Jesus statue, mimicking a sex act. He then posted pictures of his actions on social media,Daily Mail reports.

The statue reportedly belongs to Love in the Name of Christ, a Christian service organization. However, the organization did not file charges against the boy. Instead, they asked people to pray for him.


Authorities charged the teen through a 1972 law which makes it a criminal offense to desecrate a venerated object.

According to reports, the boy’s identity has been concealed because he is a minor, and his court papers are sealed.

It is unclear why the boy desecrated the statue.

Grandmother Slaughters, drinks Grandson’s Blood in Minna

A Minna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of a 55-year-old woman, Fatima Tsaraka for allegedly killing her grandson. The accused it was alleged abducted her grandson, took him to a nearby bush where she and two others slaughtered him, made a meal of his flesh and drank his blood.

Tsaraka, arraigned alongside Amina Mohammed, 65, and Zhitsun Aliyu, 38, is facing a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and cannibalism.

The accused were arraigned on Sept. 1, but the prosecutor requested an adjournment to enable police conclude investigation. At the resumed hearing of the case, the Magistrate, Mr Hamidu Bima, ordered the continued detention of the accused pending legal advice from the State Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

Bima subsequently adjourned the case to Sept. 25. Earlier, the Prosecutor, Cpl. Moses Mbaga, had told the court that the victim’s father, Mr Mohammed Doko of Koso Village, Lavun Local Government Area, reported the matter at `A’ Division Police Station, Bida, on Aug. 15.

He said the complainant alleged that the accused abducted the boy, took him to a nearby bush where they slaughtered him, made a meal of his flesh and drank his blood. The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 97, 221 and 218 of the penal code.

The accused, who pleaded guilty to the charges, however appealed for leniency and blamed their act on a spell cast on them by witches. (NAN)

Apple has officially announced the iPhone 6 – the eighth generation of iPhone – at a special event in Cupertino.

The good news is you won’t have to wait long, with the iPhone 6 release date set for September 19. (That’s a Friday).

In the US, on a two year contract the iPhone 6 starts at $199 for the 16GB model, then it’s $299 for 64GB and $399 up front for 128GB of internal storage.

If you’re looking for a SIM-free iPhone 6 you’ll need to have a lot of money at the ready. The 16GB iPhone 6 will set you back $649, £539, AU$869, the 64GB model is $749, £619, AU$999, while the 128GB version is a whopping $849, £699, AU$1129 SIM-free.

Pre-orders open on September 12.

iPhone 6 design

This is first of two major revisions new iPhone flagship – Apple has overhauled the squared off design which has been with us since the iPhone 4, with the iPhone 6 sporting a more rounded, slimmer body.

In fact it’s just 6.9mm thin, making it one of the thinnest smartphones of the market, and rumors about a protruding rear camera lens are also true.

It’s slightly heavier than the 5S at 129g, while the body measures 138.1mm x 67mm.

The power/lock key has been moved from the top of the handset to the right hand side, making it easier to hit during one handed use. On the left hand side you get the separated volume keys below a mute toggle switch.

iPhone 6 display

The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch LED back-lit display with a 1334 x 750 resolution – it’s Apple’s new “Retina HD” offering. That means you get a pixel density of 326ppi – the same as the iPhone 5S.

It also pales in comparison to the iPhone 6 Plus, with a full HD, 1920 x 1080 5.5-inch screen with a 401ppi display.

The iPhone 6 packs in an A8, 64-bit second generation processor and a next-generation M8 motion coprocessor too. We’re also hearing that the iPhone 6 sticks with 1GB of RAM

iPhone 6 camera

Apple has stuck with the 8MP rear camera on the iPhone 6, but it’s not the same as the one you’ll find on the iPhone 5S.

A new wide angle iSight lens, true tone flash, f/2.2 aperture, greater noise reduction and a 2 x faster autofocus provide even better images.

There’s also a new Apple-design image signal processor built into the A8 chip to improve the way the iPhone 6 handles images.

That rear camera can shoot 1080p video (sorry 4K fans), and the Slo-mo video mode has been boosted to give you the option to record in either 120 fps or 240 fps.

The front facing FaceTime camera has also been given some love. It’s actually a FaceTime HD camera now, with a f/2.2 aperture, and a new sensor which allows in up to 81% more light. There’s also HDR FaceTime video support, ensuring you’re perfectly lit.

iPhone 6 connectivity

The iPhone 6 (and 6 Plus) sports CAT 4 LTE, offering data speeds of up to 150Mbps and it supports LTE coverage for 20 bands, covering over 200 networks worldwide. The most bands covered by any iPhone.

There are no prizes for guessing the software that’s running on the iPhone 6.

Apple’s latest platform offering, iOS 8, was announced at its WWDC developers conference earlier this year and it’s on the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

5 Million GMail Accounts and Passwords Leaked Online

Hackers have apparently been very busy this month. Shortly after the horrifying iCloud hack that resulted in nude pictures of many celebrities being leaked online it looks like as many as five million Gmail users have been badly hit. Earlier today unknown hackers reportedly leaked five million Gmail usernames and passwords in a Russian Bitcoin forum. It has not been ascertained as yet where these Gmail addresses were leaked from.

 



 

At least one thing seems to be clear. The leak hasn’t happened due to a security breach in Google’s systems. It looks like these addresses may have been leaked from a third party website or a collection of such websites were people signed up using their Google Mail credentials. There speculation that phishing attacks and weak passwords are to be blamed for this leak as well.

Unfortunately many people have the habit of using one password across all online services. A breach from one site can result in their entire online presence being compromised which is why it is essential to use different passwords particularly for the primary email address, and for various websites or online services.

Once the news about this leak spread many websites have appeared online which urge people to enter their Gmail username and password to find out if they have been compromised by the leak. This is perhaps the oldest scam in the book, never enter the credentials on any such site, you will only be opening yourself up to more risk.

Those who would like to be extra cautious should change their Gmail passwords and it is recommended that you turn on two-factor authentication, it won’t take long and will certainly go a long way in protecting your Google account.
