Lesbian Woman Executed for starving Girlfriend’s 9yr Old son to Death

Davontae Williams (right) who had been beaten and bound, and whose body bore more than 250 scars when officials discovered him on July 26, 2004. He had also been starved, weighing a mere 35 pounds at the time of his death.



Witnesses said Coleman appeared to be at peace with the execution on Wednesday telling her jailers: ‘I’m ready. I know where I’m going. I’m not bitter, just ready’. She then smiled and blew kisses at the supporters gathered at her execution and said ‘God bless you all’. Her last words were directed at her fellow inmate, Darlie Routier. ‘Tell them I finished strong.’ Coleman was given a lethal injection at 6pm and was pronounced dead at 6:23pm. No one showed up to represent the victim, Davontae.

She is the sixth woman to be executed in Texas since 1982. The last woman put to death was Suzanne Basso on February 5 of this year.

Davontae’s mother and Coleman’s former girlfriend, Marcella Williams (pictured left), is currently serving a life sentence for his death, after reaching a plea deal.

Williams, who was just 14-years-old when she gave birth to Davontae, had been investigated by Child Protective Services seven times between 1995 and 2002. In 2002, they lost track of  the family.

Prosecutors in Coleman’s case used the charge of kidnapping to justify asking for the death penalty.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, they argued that Coleman ‘did not allow Davontae to have visitors, kept him from visiting others by restraining him and told people he was not at the apartment when he was there.’

The young boy’s ultimate cause of death was malnutrition.

Paramedics who arrived on the scene after it was reported the child was having trouble breathing found him dressed in nothing but bandages and a diaper, and reported that the boy had clearly been dead for several hours.

Big Brother Africa has unveiled 3 housemates for Season 9 of the show, tagged “Hotshots”. They are Alusa from Kenya,Ellah from Uganda andButterphly from Zimbabwe.

Season 9 of the hugely popular MNet series was due to start on September 7 but had to be postponed due to a September 2 fire outbreak at Sasani Studios in Johannesburg, South Africa where the show usually holds.

She was inspired to enter Big Brother Hotshots because of the fact that ‘it unites Africa and also is a platform for me to advance’.

She says she’s ‘super excited and is looking forward to being on the show. She describes herself as ‘charismatic, bitchy, outspoken, loving and sophisticated’ and says that she’s ‘strong and determined’. She values ‘honesty, charisma and joyfulness’ in others, but dislikes ‘lies and fakeness’.If she wins the grand prize Ellah will buy cars for her mom and invest the rest in real estate.

She likes to watch Chopped, 24, Intelligence and Big Brother Africa. Butterphly entered Big Brother Hotshots because she’d always wanted to be part of a national sports team, but never got the chance. ‘Being on Big Brother Africa will allow me to take the opportunity to market myself and expand my brand’. She says she won’t use ‘backstabbing and cheating’ or immoral and unethical methods to get the prize.

If she wins, he’ll send her sister, brother and kids to really good schools, start a chain of unique food, social and fashion hangout joints and take her mom shopping. Describing herself as ‘unique, feisty, mysterious, fun-loving and witty’, Butterphly says that people are always shocked when they discover that he’s humble, compassionate and kind. The 31year old  also went on to tell the story of how we got robbed and beaten at his family home by a group of robbers demanding for gold. He explained that the robbers were clearly sent to attack him because of his relationship with Goldie. From his recap of the story he said  “Two days after the wake keeping I went to my family house and 5 armed robbers stormed the house and they keep screaming ‘where is the gold. They beat the living daylight out of me. Though I look like I don’t have flesh, they beat my little flesh out of my body. They tried to hit my grandma, my dad, it was scary. Maybe they thought she gave me her gold”

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has banned Lil Kesh’s Shoki Video, months after it has enjoyed massive airplay.

Peter Okoye Shows Off His ‘See-Though’ Guitar (Photo)

Peter Okoye, one of the twins from P-square, posted a picture of him rocking a special transparent guitar in their home studio.



 

P-square are considered Nigeria’s richest twins in entertainment. And many fans have always assumed that the twins could afford the best things in life given how much they are both worth.

However, after a brief research, it was gathered that a guitar Peter Okoye uses for his rehearsals costs around N72,000 ($438,000). Thus, fans could actually afford such guitar used by the famous Psquare and if used right, can get the same sound the twins bang the continent with!

This guitar is called an Acrylic 5 String Bass Guitar, or transparent guitar, or “a see-through”. It is allegedly manufactured by a Chinese company called Alibaba. It’s a jazz bass guitar used my musicians to help enhance their sound

However, according to some music portals, the acrylic guitar is one of the worse guitars any artistes can ever own. Here are three reasons for this:

• Acrylic does absolutely nothing for tone or sustain no matter what anyone says.


• The body is unbelievably heavy. It’s absolutely required to wear a well-padded guitar strap if you dare play this thing standing up.


• No guitar player has ever said that they prefer an acrylic body.

Sanusi Showed Up In 53-Yr-Old Rolls Royce At Meeting In Kaduna

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, showed up at a meeting in Kaduna in a vintage Rolls Royce.

15 soldiers get 4yrs imprisonment for refusing to fight Boko Haram

15 Nigerian soldiers who refused orders from their superior to go to the war front and fight members of the insurgency group, Boko Haram in Adamawa state recently, were yesterday September 17th sentenced to 4 years imprisonment by a military court that sat at the 23rd Armoured Brigade in Yola in Adamawa state.

The sentenced soldiers who had been in detention for over three weeks were convicted on charges ranging from insubordination, dereliction of duty and refusal to undertake order assigned to them in the war against the sect members.

Police Denies Soldiers Ambush In Kogi

Officials of the Kogi State Police Command on Tuesday reacted to the reported ambush of about 850 military troops on Sunday night in Kogi State by suspected Boko Haram members between Okene and Lokoja road.

The command spokesman, Aguebor Elvis, in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, refuted the alleged attack which was reported by a national daily.

It would be recalled that some military troops roportedly going to Kotangora in Niger State, for training before going to Borno and Adamawa states for reinforcement against the dreaded terrorists group, Boko Haram were ambushed by suspected sect members.

Elvis, who categorically stated that nothing of such happened in the state, said: “the command never heard of Boko Haram attacking military men, we are surprised that such a report came out without confirming from us. It was just a distraction”

The command’s spokesman further revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, Paul Nwafor, has directed that a letter should be sent to the Inspector General of Police, in Abuja, to let him know that the purported attack was bore out of the “imagination of the writer, aimed at creating distraction in order to cause confusion in the state.”

Elvis said a statement would soon be released to inform members of the public on the true nature of the matter.

It would be recalled that on Monday, Punch reported that at least 850 soldiers attached to the 322 Artillery Battalion, and the Fourth Brigade Garrison, Ekeunwa, Benin City, the Edo State capital were ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorist group between Okene and Lokoja, Kogi State.

Meanwhile, in a recent development following a fierce battle with soldiers of 7 Division, over 200 members of the Boko Haram sect who were on a revenge mission to Konduga local government area of Borno State were reportedly killed. The Nigerian military had  also on September 12, 2014, reportedly killed over 150 insurgents, who attempted to invade Kondugatown.

Facts On Scottish Independence Referendum

Now we are witnessing a turning point in the history of Scotland. Today, 18th September 2014, this country is holding a referendum where voters respond to a single question:“Should Scotland be an independent country?”

Perhaps, it would the end the story of the United Kingdom, created by the political union in England and Scotland in 1707. Union of Scotland and England has more than three hundred years of history. It was only in the last few decades there have been calls for independence. In 2012 British Prime Minister David Cameron agreed with the idea of a referendum, allowing the Scottish National Party to realize the old dream.

Long way to a referendum

In 1934 the Scottish National Party (SNP) – the main initiator of the movement for secession – was founded. However, initially they only touched upon the expansion of autonomy within the framework of a single state. No specific action was happening.

Everything changed after the discovery of oil on the Scottish shelf in 1960. Thanks to the SNP a referendum on the establishment of the local parliament, which was to dispose of the oil revenues, was held in 1979.

More than 51% of voters have voted for creation of the Scottish Assembly, but the UK Labour government refused to recognize the results of the polls. Soon the UK witnessed a political crisis, resignation of the government and new parliamentary elections won by the Conservatives led by Margaret Thatcher.

The second attempt for referendum was held only in 1997, and it was successful: its own parliament and the cabinet have been created in the region. The powers of the new Assembly were significantly limited in the area of taxation, and only ten years later the leader of the SNP, Alex Salmond, suggested the idea of the separation of Scotland, and his party published a draft law on sovereignty.

The SNP took several years to take the necessary majority in the local parliament. This goal was achieved in autumn 2012. Salmond has signed an agreement with British Prime Minister David Cameron. So the referendum was scheduled for this autumn (2014).

Who is who?

“Yes Scotland” are the advocates of secession: the group combines the SNP, the Scottish Green Party and the Scottish Socialist Party. Sources of Funding – SNP party office and couple Colin and Christine Weir, who won a whopping sum of 184 million Euros in the lottery a few years ago.

“Better Together”, “unionists” – an alliance of Scottish offices of British parties: Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrats. After its establishment, the opponents of separation from the UK received more than a million pounds, which includes 500,000 donated by Ian Taylor, the oil magnate and known supporter of the Tories.

Unpredictable results

As of March this year, 4.12 million citizens over the age of 18 and 100,000 adolescents, aged 16 and 17 years, can participate in the plebiscite.

The difference between the number of supporters and opponents of independence is vanishingly small. Just a month ago, 35% of people in Scotland were in favor of separation from London, and 55% were against it. In early September, the proportion changed: 51% were for the separation, 49% against.

Currently, the number of supporters of independence has slightly reduced to 48%, so everything would be decided on the voting day. The official results are to be announced on September 19, 2014, Friday.

Catholic Church: 25 Towns Under Boko Haram Insurgents

As the Federal Government continues to wage war against terrorism in Nigeria, the Catholic church in Nigeria has announced that no fewer than 25 towns are under the outlawed Islamist group Boko Haram  in northern Nigeria.

According to Thisday report, the Catholic Church made the declaration on Wednesday 17 September, 2014 , saying three North-eastern states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa are currently under the control of the terrorist group.

Among the towns that are said to be under the control of the insurgents are: Damboa, Buni Yadi, Madagali, Gwoza, Gujba, Gulak, Bama, Gulani, Shuwa, Marte, Kukawa, Michika, Dikwa, Bularafa, Bazza, Gamboru Ngalla and Buni Gari.

Others are Banki, Bara, Pulka, Bumsa, Ashgashiya, Taltaba, Limankara and Njibulwa.

The Catholic Church informed that all the towns are being controlled conveniently by the Boko Haram  in Borno, Yobe and parts of Adamawa that make up the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri

A statement released by the church stated that: “Right now we have close to 20 priests taking refuge in Yola.

“There are conflicting reports about Bama as to whether it is in the hands of the terrorists. But the number of civilians that have migrated into Maiduguri on foot from Bama, Kawuri and Konduga is suggestive that the terrorists have an upper hand in the fight.

“We are faced with a huge humanitarian crisis; people are sleeping on the streets in Maiduguri, despite the seven or more camps within the city for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

“The state government is doing its bit to provide for them but the number is overwhelming and the resources are limited.”

The church also warned that Maiduguri, the Borno State capital might be the next target of the Boko Haram sect following the fall of Bama which is about 71 kilometres away and Konduga, the next major town is Maiduguri.

Speaking on the activities of the Boko Haram sect in the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri over the last one month,  the Archbishop of the Diocese, Oliver Dashe Doeme, said: “The last one month has seen the intensification and aggressive devastation of the Boko Haram activities in northern, central and southern parts of the Catholic Diocese of Maiduguri. The brutality and callousness with which people are killed can only be compared to that of the ISIS in Iraq and Syria. Many of our people are being forced out of their ancestral homes, villages and towns.

“Right now, thousands are living in caves on the mountains, some in the forest; the few who were able to escape are being absorbed by friends and relatives in Maiduguri, Mubi and Yola. Thousands have managed to escape into Cameroun and are living under very difficult conditions of lack of food, shelter and medication.”

He complained about the altitude of  Nigerian security men, saying: “What is very discouraging in the whole scenario is the attitude of the military whom we mortgage and depend on for security.

“In the face of  Boko Haram insurgents’ attacks, they flee and ask civilians to do the same.

“There is no doubt that the morale of the security men and women is at its lowest ebb in the North-eastern part of Nigeria.”

The Archbishop also condemned the Federal Government for not doing enough to tackle insurgency in the northeast of Nigeria, adding that,“there is a total disconnection between what our so called leaders in Abuja report in the media and the reality on ground. We wish they have the courage to fly into these areas and see things for themselves.”

“Our people are dying every day and in most cases with no one to bury them decently, they are left to rot; their homes and properties looted; they have become slaves and prisoners in their fatherland, here is a government that cannot safe guard the lives of its citizens and indeed life has become so cheap that it can be wasted any moment. We used to think that salt is the cheapest commodity in the market, well, life is cheaper now especially in the North-eastern part of Nigeria.”

The Boko Haram insurgency is believed to have killed no fewer than 5,000 people and caused the displacement of over 650, 000 others in northern Nigeria since 2009.

'How I was Recruited By Boko Haram Insurgents'

A 34-year-old man, Oyebuchi Romanus, who hailed from Ekwusigo Local Government Area in Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria, has revealed how he was forcefully recruited by the Boko Haram insurgents in Jos, Plateau State.

While speaking with newsmen in Yola, Adamawa State on Wednesday, 17 September, 2014, Romanus stated that he was recruited by the Boko Haram terrorists in May this year and taken to a place near Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State for training against his wish.

The Igbo man added that he was  recruited by insurgents shortly after he had lost his business in a bomb blast that rocked Jos early this year.

Romanus said while he was lamenting over the loss of his business, unknown men forcibly put him in the boot of their car and later discovered that they were driving towards the Northern part of the country.

He claimed that he couldn’t resist the terrorists because he was drugged before he was bundled in the boot of a car.

Romanus informed that when they got to their destination, his abductors finally introduced themselves as members of the Boko Haram sect.

He said he was asked by his abductors to join them or they would kill him.

“I accepted to join the Boko Haram group to save my life. My religious belief and upbringing forbid me from killing my fellow human being which made me not to participate in any of their activities.

“And when they realised this, they started threatening my life even to the point of swearing in the name of Allah(God) that they would killed me if l continue to dodge their activities.

“But when I saw how serious they were, I decided to run away from their camp to Niger Republic when I was asked to fetch water from a nearby river before finding my way back to the state,” Romanus narrated.

He claimed it was the prayers of Nigerians that helped him to escape from the training camp of the insurgents near Madagali.

It would be recalled that it was reported few weeks ago that the Boko Haram sect has been forcefully recruiting youths into the Islamist group.

Last week, the father of the personal assistant to acting Gover­nor of Adamawa State, Tanko Wazimtu was killed in his Madagali residence by youths who are members of Boko Haram group.

It was gathered that Pa Wazintu, 75, was killed by members of the Islamist sect in the presence of his wife and daughter.

China Joins Fight Against Ebola

Chinese Foreign Ministry has announced plans to join the fight against the deadly Ebola Virus Disease in West Africa.

Tribune reports that the ministry’s spokesperson, Hong Lei, who made this known in Beijing on Wednesday, said the country promised to work with other international community in curtailing the disease in the region.

Lei, who further revealed that a 59-member Chinese laboratory team, with 30 doctors and 29 laboratory technicians on Tuesday left Beijing, said: “They will work at the Sierra Leone-China Friendship Hospital to help Sierra Leone improve lab testing.”

According to him, this is the recent effort by China to help the fight against the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.

The spokesman also stated that China had earlier dispatched medical supplies and 115 medical experts to Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau.

Lei, however, pointed out that the move was to show that China and Africa, as friends in need, were friends indeed as well as demonstrate Chinese people’s international humanitarianism.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has also requested the sum of $1billion about N165 billion to help fight the outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease EVD, in West Africa.

It would be recalled that on September 14, 2014, in response to the unabated increase in number of deaths recorded so far from the EVD outbreak in West Africa, United States President, Barack Obama, hinted on  plans to boost his country’s involvement in the war against the deadly disease after it initially announced that it has already committed around $100 million to tackle the outbreak by providing protective equipment for healthcare workers, food, water, medical and hygiene equipment.
