Boko Haram: Shekau impersonator killed by Nigerian troops?

The Nigerian military may have recorded a major victory in the war against Boko Haram as the man suspected to be mimicking late Abubakar Shekau in recent videos from the sect, may have been killed during the September 17th battle in Konduga, Borno state.

A senior military source said "it is getting more certain that the terrorists' commander who has been mimicking Shekau in those videos is the one killed in Konduga on September 17."

Sources at the image making company of the Nigerian government, PRNigeria, say the death of the man believed to be the leader of the group is responsible for the scattering of the sect members in different independent locations in neighboring countries.


Security sources did not deny the suspicion but cautioned that "the process of confirming that the dead body we have is the same as that character who has been posing as Shekau is ongoing. He is definitely a prominent terrorist commander. I don't want to say anything about this yet please."

Another high ranking military source said that the resemblance between the man killed and the one seen in recent videos posted by the sect group is quite striking, citing his facial marks, beards and teeth as some of the striking resemblance features.

Military officers say the Defence Headquarters will address the nation after a full investigation of their latest discovery has been done.

Meanwhile the Defense headquarters say five members of the sect group surrendered their arms to the Nigerian troops yesterday, pleading for mercy. They said some captured members of the sect group are helping with useful information regarding future planned attacks by the sect.

Katsina governor reportedly orders student detained for criticizing him on Facebook

A student of the National Open University of Nigeria, Abdulmalik Sa’idu, has been languishing in a police cell for over 20 days on the orders of the Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema, for posting details of an alleged fertilizer scam in the state on his Facebook wall, Premium Times reports

This was disclosed to Premium Times by Mr. Sa’idu’s family and lawyer. Abdulmalik was first invited to the Katsina Government House on August 28 by a phone caller who claimed he had a message for him. But when Abdulmalik arrived at the governor’s office, he was promptly arrested, handcuffed and taken to Batagarawa Police Station just outside the state capital, Katsina, and detained on the orders of Mr. Shema’s aide-de-camp, Shehu Koko, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP.

According to his father, Maiyawo Sa’idu, while the young student was not charged with any offence, he was accused of cloning the governor’s phone number and using same to call the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affair, Sani Makana, with instructions that Mr. Makana deposit N3 million in his account. Mr. Sa’idu said his son was innocent. He said if indeed Abdulmalik cloned the governor’s number to dupe a commissioner he wouldn’t be tricked to come to the Government House to be arrested. “I think they are trying to frame him. I know my son cannot clone the governor’s number and call a commissioner to put three million into his account,” Mr. Saidu told PREMIUM TIMES.

He said Abdulmalik was arrested because he posted details of an alleged fertiliser scam by the governor on his Facebook page. Mr. Saidu said prior to his son’s illegal detention, some officials of the state government had warned his son to desist from criticising the governor on Facebook. On one occasion, the General Manager of Katsina State Road Maintenance Agency, Jamilu Umar, threatened to pay N2 million to thugs or policemen to kill Abdulmalik if he doesn’t stop criticising the governor publicly, Mr. Saidu said. Governor Shema’s Chief Press Secretary, Sani Malumfashi, rejected repeated calls made to his mobile phone after this reporter told him he was calling about Abdumalik’s case.

Mr. Sa’idu said he is worried about the wellbeing of his son after relatives were abruptly stopped from seeing him a week into his being detained. “For the first week they used to bring him out to me. He would eat in front of me and they would take him back to the cell but for more than 12 days now, we have not seen him. They told me that they have a directive from above not to bring him to me,” he said. “The DPO (Divisional Police Officer) told me they have a directive from the Government House not to bring him out for his family or anybody in Katsina to see him.”

Akin Ajayi, a Kaduna based lawyer, who is helping the family on the case, said the DPO of Batagarawa Police Station told him he had order from above not to release Abdulmalik on bail. “I spoke to the DPO of the Batagarawa Police Station and he said he cannot do anything because it was an order from above,” he said.

Mr. Ajayi said as a lawyer, the governor should realise that he was breaking the law by holding the boy beyond 48 hours on a “frivolous claim.” “The governor is a lawyer, his deputy is a lawyer and the attorney general is a lawyer and they all know that it is wrongful of them to arrest someone and keep him in detention for more than 48 hours on a frivolous claim that the boy cloned the governor’s number and wanted to collect N3 million and some other concocted allegations which are not proven. And they now kept the boy incommunicado. His family cannot reach him, and these days because of the security situation in the north, he could be killed,” he added. Mr. Ajayi warned that if Abdulmalik was not released he was going to send a petition to the National Human Rights Commission and the Inspector General of Police. The DPO of Batagarawa declined to talk to Premium Times after he was asked on whose orders Abdulmalik was being held beyond the 48 hours stipulated by law.

The Police PRO, Abubakar Sadiq, also refused to return several calls after promising to find out the details of the case.

Hackers who Leaked Kim Kardashian Nude Photos gets Rihanna too.. Leaks Her Naked Photos

Rihanna is the latest celebrity to become victim in what seem to be an ongoing phone hacking scam.

Early Sunday AM, two nude pictures that appear to be RiRi were leaked onto 4chan/Reddit – one with a censored version of her breasts and the other pic showing bare ass and slight nipple, according to TMZ.

Both pictures were reportedly taken during ‘some sort of a fitting’ but location is not known yet. Its obvious the celebrity hackers are back with a vengeance.

However, Rihanna and her legal team are still to comment.

Ibrahim Babangida Reportedly Hospitalized in Germany

Finally!! Dr Sid Reveals What Dorobucci Really Means

No doubts, Dr Sid, born Sidney Onoriode Esiri, is now one of the leading musicians ruling the Nigerian airwaves.

A dentist turned songwriter and singer, Sidney hails from Delta State but grew up in Lagos.

His legendary hits include Pour Something and recently Surulere under Mavins Records.

He also featured in the reigning hit Dorobucci, a hit number done by his friend and boss, Don Jazzy.

He just recently got married to his girlfriend and long time fiancée Simi Osomo. In this exclusive interview with Potpourri, he talks about his career, music and more:

What have you been up to?

I just got married so I’ve been up to that lately but musically, we’re working on promoting some more singles off the Seduction album.

We’re going to be pushing out a few videos in a couple of weeks, for a few songs.

You’ve done ‘Baby Tornado’ video, is there going to be another video?

The album has 20 tracks; 18 songs and 2 bonus tracks and we’ve promoted a few songs.

Last year, we started with singles before the album came out. Some of the singles were Lady Don Dada, Love Mine and Talented.

We also had Baby Tornado and then we had Baby Tornado remix which we just dropped a video for this year.

We promoted Surulere and Kilon wa too with videos as well.

And then Baby Tornado came out. We have a few more songs like Oyari which features Tiwa Savage, Chop Ogbono and a song called Nwayi Oma which features Emma Nyra

Which video are you shooting next?

I’ve shot a few videos; I’ve shot over four unreleased videos.

We’re just waiting to decide when the best time to release them is.

How has your career been so far?

It’s fantastic. Every career has ups and downs and right now, we’re on an upward movement, and we’re very excited about that.

Have you done the Seduction tour?

I did the Seduction UK tour in February and we toured a few cities in Nigeria; Benin, Abuja and some other places, but we’re going back on a tour by the end of the year.

It’s going to be busy and hectic so there’s not too much time to schedule, we’re booked almost every weekend.

Is it in Lagos or abroad?

We planned a Euro tour but we had to move it to next year because there’s so much going on in Nigeria at the moment.

We got too many bookings to be gone for a long period of time so we pushed the European tour to next year.

This year we have two Mavin concerts coming up in Nigeria; one in October and then on December 24th, Christmas Eve in Lagos

Who is your biggest inspiration in music?

I don’t have inspirations; I only have people I respect.

I respect what they’ve done with their music and what they‘ve done with their brands. I respect Jay Z, P Diddy, Beyonce and R Kelly.

I respect different people for different reasons because there are aspects of their careers and lives that I admire.

The Baby Tornado video, where did you shoot it?

Baby Tornado video was shot in London with the X factor winner Alexandra Burke.

It was a very beautiful production, I totally enjoyed it

How did you guys meet?

She’s a very close friend to my wife but apparently, she has been trying to do music with me for a long time and she just happened to ask my wife.

Introductions were made and music was created.

It could not have been easy getting Funke Akindele, Helen Paul to be in your Surulere video?

They’re all personal friends of mine.

These are people I’ve known for a long time and when I asked them to be part of the video, they were all excited and they all made that video absolutely fantastic.

As a matter of fact, I think I need to tweet at them today and just tell them ‘Thank you’ for all the nominations we’re getting

How did you feel getting the MTN ambassadorship?

It’s a beautiful thing for a brand like MTN to recognize that a brand like Dr Sid is strong enough to represent their brand. Obviously, you know that Dr Sid has something to offer and bring something to the table, so I feel very honoured and excited about the possibilities

What is the idea behind Mavin Records?

Mavin Records is a lifestyle brand, it’s a total package. It’s love, responsibility, passion, it’s everything.

When you say a lifestyle brand, it’s how you live. Mavin stands for anything that is a genius and amazing.

Mavin is Dorobucci.

It’s a brand that stands for perfection and excellence and that’s what we always try to bring when it comes to the music industry.

My wife is beautiful, she’s intelligent and she’s the most amazing human being I’ve ever met

What has been the high point of your career?

It must be being nominated for my first MTV award and performing at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA).

Then winning my first award at Headies and performing alongside some of the biggest international artistes like Jay Z and Beyonce before all those people.

So, I guess I pretty much have a lot of high points

How is it like working with Don Jazzy and the whole Mavin crew?

It’s a refreshing experience.

There are a bunch of talented people in Mavin Records and we all come together to create beautiful music and it’s a lot of fun.

Sean Tizzle Performs Naked On Stage At UNIBEN (See Photo)

Popular Nigerian Musician Sean Tizzle performed naked at the UNIBEN Coke Studio Africa show this afternoon. The show, organised by #CokestudioAfrica was held at Hall 2 Car Park of the great institution, and had the likes of Rayce, Oritse Femi, Sean Tizzle, amongst others in attendance.

The high point of the show was when Sean Tizzle was to perform, and in a coke-induced frenzy, started tearing off his clothes to throw at the audience.

I’m In Trouble – Maheeda Cries Out

Caroline Sam, known in the music industry as Maheeda is a woman renown for her knack of courting controversies like it is some dinner or buffet to her.

On Tuesday, the self acclaimed prostitute turned gospel singer posted a status message on her Blackberry that got many wondering what was amiss with the mother of one.

“ I am in trouble” she wrote.

Curious as ever, Showtime sought the cause of her trouble and the singer replied by sending a link to a story which chronicled a protest by prostitutes led by a female prostitute, Patoo Abraham on the rights of prostitutes to ply their trade legally like other professions.

According to the story, the protest held sometime in Lagos and the commercial s*x workers wore T-shirts screaming “s*x work is work, we need our rights.”

So, how could this get Maheeda in trouble? We asked her. “Don’t you know that very soon this group may be asking me to come and deliver a speech?” she answered.

The groups are operating under the names; Nigerian chapter of African s*x Workers Alliance (ASWA) and the Women of Power Initiative (WOPI).

Of course, if the groups would be needing a resource person, who is better qualified than Maheeda who has had both local and international experience on the job.

Chloe Pullen woke up from Caesarean to be told her daughter had two teeth Baby Rose’s teeth were fully formed – but were removed after three days These ‘natal’ teeth can be loose –  so must be removed in case baby chokes  Mrs Pullen, 25, resumed breastfeeding her daughter after the removal She and her husband have kept Rose’s first teeth in a jar as a souvenir  Doctors say natal teeth occur in one in every 2,000 to 3,000 babies  Many women are understandably anxious about starting to breastfeed. But Chloe Pullen admits she was slightly more worried than most, after her daughter Rose was born with two fully formed front teeth. Most babies start teething at around six months, but Rose astounded nurses and midwives at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with her pearly white incisors. Mrs Pullen, 25, from Pantmawr in Powys, Wales had a Caesarean so was under general anaesthetic for her daughter’s birth. When she came round, her husband Daniel told her their daughter had been born with teeth. She said: ‘The midwives had never seen a baby with teeth before. ‘Everybody came to the ward to see her – you could tell it was rare,’ she told Wales Online. Teeth that a child is born with are known as natal teeth. Doctors say they occur in about one in every 2,000 to 3,000 babies. They usually develop in the lower gums and have little root structure, meaning they are often wobbly. Mrs Pullen, who also has a two-year-old son Thomas, said she and her husband were so surprised by their daughter’s appearance that they sent a picture of them to their friends and family. She said the incisors looked like normal teeth, only smaller. And luckily, breastfeeding didn’t hurt as much as she had expected. ‘I was worried about breastfeeding her but it didn’t hurt,’ she said. ‘I could not actually feel her teeth.’ It turned out that Rose is not the first baby in the family to be born with gnashers – the family later learned her grandmother was also born with one front tooth. Rose’s teeth, which were in the middle of her lower gum, were removed three days after she was born.

This is often the case with natal teeth because if they are loose there is a danger of the child choking on them. They can also injure the baby’s tongue when it is breastfeeding and can cause a breastfeeding mother pain. Rose had to be fed with bottled milk until the teeth were removed, but Mrs Pullen could resume breastfeeding again after that. She is still expected to grow a full set of baby teeth. Her mother added: ‘I was given a little toothfairy box at her baby shower and I never thought I would be using it so soon – especially for Rose before her older brother Thomas.’

Kim Kardashian and Vanessa Hudgens have become the latest victims of a hacker who leaked their nude photos online. It seems the war against the privacy of celebrities is not yet over as another batch of nude photos have been revealed.

 

The latest victims are reality star, Kim Kardashian, actress, Vanessa Hudgens and American soccer star, Hope Solo.

Previous victims of the hackers, who post the photos on social media site, 4Chan, include Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton

This is reportedly the third time that Jennifer Hudgens’ nude photos would leak online. The stars’ photos have since gone viral on Twitter but no official statement has been made by their reps.
